Story

These people are me (Phil), Carla and our dog Rudy. Rudy wants to be a big sister and we both desperately want to be parents but the thing is.... 2020 happened.

After mourning the loss of grandparents, surviving covid and postponing our wedding twice (now 3 times) Carla was diagnosed with bowel cancer.

The treatment? Chemoradiotherapy which would leave us unable to have a child without the help of a surrogate. We were given the opportunity to freeze Carla's eggs to allow us to use a surrogate in the future but the NHS doesn't fund surrogacy.

Surrogacy UK estimate costs to be up to £30,000. So we launched an initial crowdfunding campaign and we have been overwhelmed by people's generosity, but there's still a long way to go.

As a lifetime mountain biker I had an idea and so Sea to Surrogacy was born. The idea is simple: Ride from the West Coast of the Lake District to the East Coast of North Yorkshire over 5 days taking in the best trails in northern England whilst carrying all our gear to camp along the way. The route is nearly 250 miles and includes over 25,000 feet of climbing - that's almost the height of Everest!

What we're asking for is sponsorship for this mighty challenge that we may one day be able to afford to have a baby with a surrogate. If we're lucky enough to raise more than we need we'll donate the rest to bowel cancer UK.

Carla and I have always dreamed of being parents and by following us on Instagram (#c2surrogacy), sharing our story and donating, if you're able, you'll help us achieve our dreams!
