Weʼve raised £712 to bid to buy the "Oor Wullie" "A'body's Hospital" statue to offer it back to the Glasgow Children's Hospital. "Bring Wullie Hame!"

    Story

This is my granddaughter in the picture. She has never been a patient at the Glasgow Children's Hospital. I hope she never does but it is reassuring to know that there is such a wonderful facility available. The "Oor Wullie Big Bucket Trail" is raising a lot of money for the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity.

With your help it can raise a lot more. This statue is amazing (they all are). South side artist Neil Slorance spent seven weeks at the hospital painting patients, families staff and volunteers. There are over 350 pictures on it - all of real people. I have seen marvelous pictures of young former patients seeing themselves immortalised.

Like most of the large statues it will be auctioned to raise funds for the Charity. I would love to see it going home to the GCH and so, with Neil's blessing, I am crowdfunding with a view to bidding for it at the auction on 20 September.

If I - or rather we - are successful, any funds over and above the bid will be donated to the Charity. If we are unsuccessful then all of the funds raised will go to the Charity.

Please consider donating to this wonderful cause and please share this.

    Thank you.

We didn't make it - the statue went for an impressive £4.400. We don't know where it will end up - hopefully back at the hospital. The funds raised are being transferred to the Glasgow Children's Hospital Charity where they will make a real difference. Thanks to everyone who contributed.

Really pleased that the statue was sold for £4,400 at Friday’s auction. We don’t know who bought it or what they are intending to do with it. “Hope it’s “Hame”. Thanks to everyone who donated. The proceeds are being transferred from Just Giving and will be forwarded to the Glashow Children’s Hospital Charity.
