    Story

My Dad is 71, he has FTDP (Frontaltemporal Dementia with Parkinsonism) and went into care in March this year - he can no longer walk, talk or do anything for himself. His memory is not diminished (unlike Alzheimer's) and he is trapped inside his body.

He now lives in St Anne's Nursing Home and the staff are truly wonderful at making the lives of their residents as normal as possible. They do an amazing job at providing a full experience for everyone, including art classes, singing, petting animals etc. They'd now love to create a sensory garden and a sensory room - both would provide stimulation and an extra experience to people who now have altered realities, little cognitive function, and for some, limited or no movement.

Though we're not sure exactly what Dad can still understand we know that he responds to touch and visual/ aural stimulation. He would LOVE sensory experiences, and especially being out in the garden with the sun and wind on his face.

It would be a perfect way for families to also spend time with loved ones in a shared experience they can all enjoy.

Please help people like my dad to have the best experience of life that they can have and support St Anne's in their sensory venture!
