Jack Wilkie is a 6 year old little boy who has been diagnosed with generalised Epilepsy Tonic Clonic Seizures which for a 6yr old must be and is very hard for him to cope with . He has a number of seizures through out the day and also during the night. When he is asleep he is in need of some equipment a Monitor that attached to his bed and this monitors his movements as he sleeps and also alerts his family so they can be by his side to stop him from harming himself .At the minute his Dad sleeps on the floor in his bedroom as they need to be beside him during the night which is not suitable for anyone .
A special pillow so if he has a seizure he will not suffocate this also needs a special pillowcase .
A helmet for when he goes out to play as every little boy wants to play out on his bike . These past few month it has been so hard to see him go from a bubbly funny little boy who likes play outside with his friends to now someone who has to be told he cant do thing in case he has a seizure .How do you try to make sense of it all to a 6yr old .
In the summer months the family spend time at the caravan and Jack loves going to the club and playing pool and obviously the machines but they are now dreading the months ahead when they have to tell Jack that he cant go as the disco lights and the lights from the machines will start off his seizures This is going to be hell as Jack has brothers and a sister and how do you tell him they can go but he has to stay at home with dad ? .
The parents have been told that they will have to purchase the equipment themselves and will struggle to do that so we are going to give them all the support we can .
