Story
We have been running a small educational charity called The Seeds Project for four years within the Falmouth and Penryn community in Cornwall and have worked with lots of wonderful children of all ages and their families as well as with local schools, nurseries, the Falmouth Children's Centres and Falmouth Council.
We now wish to grow our organisation into a school and learning community together with families that are interested in an alternative approach to education focus on children learning in a holistic way, exploring the natural world, supporting the individual child, encouraging environmental responsibility and nurturing a sense of belonging in the community. We believe that our children's education should be shared between family, community and schools and therefore we wish to nurture a meaningful involvement with parents to grow our school together.
We have been given a little apple orchard called Leila's Orchard at Chayn, a 2.5 acre community field managed by the local community. We are now raising funds to grow our school in Leila’s Orchard starting with a round classroom building, a cloakroom and a compost toilet. The building and the school ground will be designed and build with the children and their families.
