JJ was from Many Tears animal rescue in South Wales, he was called Vinny. He was 8 months old and when the rescue got him out of the puppy farm where he had been kept to use as a stud dog his front leg was mangled broken and infected. The pfs hadn't treated it so the leg had to be amputated all the way to the shoulder. He is now 10 and a half and has had a wonderful life and manages to walk climb and swim with 3 legs. Now more often he uses a stroller as he still loves to come out but can't walk far now because of arthritis and his worsening heart murmur. Last weekend he was crying and sore so we took him in and he was diagnosed with an arthritis flare up. Also his heart has suddenly gone from a stage 2 to a stage 4 so he was feeling really poorly. He was put on some medication to help with the pain but he collapsed with severe haemorrhagic gastroenteritis. After 4 nights at the hospital he was making no progress and wouldn't eat and we thought when we went in Saturday we were going to say goodbye. I cried all the way there. The vet had asked me to take in his very favourite foods as a last resort. I cooked sausages and bacon. I took ham and Boomer Bix and chicken but I thought it was fruitless. As soon as we walked in we knew he had turned around, he hopped to the front of his crate and wagged his tail which he hadn't done all week. When he saw the container with his treats in his eyes lit up and he began to eat!! We were all crying even the vet!
I am trying to raise funds to help his owner Fleur and Mike cover the cost of his treatment. He wasn't able to have cover on insurance due to pre existing conditions.
They have 6 dogs and have taken on the poorly ones, ex breeding puppy farm dogs. who desperately need a loving home but constantly need vet care.
Fleur has been unable to work recently due to illness and it has put a further strain on their finances, putting them in more debt.
