As we commemorate the anniversary of Shawn Darby’s lost battle to cancer it seems fitting to consider a tangible memorial to mark his passion, hard work and commitment to improving the fishing facilities and environment at Shortheath pond. This beautiful, tranquil location was an important part of Shawn’s life and his family and friends would very much like to see a memorial bench placed at this spot where he was at his happiest pitting his wits against the wily carp.

We have obtained permission from Hampshire County Council and Natural England for the placing of the bench at Short Heath pond, however, there are stringent regulations as to the type and quality of the bench to be provided and we understand the total cost will be in excess of £1200. This brings us to seeking your support to make this memorial to Shawn a reality and we would ask you to consider pledging a financial contribution to help bring something positive out of the loss of such a kind and caring human being
