This is the JustGiving page, set up in memory of Sheila Thornton.

We have chosen to fundraise for two different organisations in our mum’s memory: Cumberworth CE (A) First School and Denby Dale Community Library. Both of these organisations were close to Sheila’s heart. As a lifelong teacher, Sheila was passionate about inspiring and supporting children in all aspects of their lives and made a difference to so many children during her life; we would be so grateful to you for helping to make a difference to children’s lives in her memory.

We kindly ask that instead of buying flowers for Sheila’s funeral, donations are made to these organisations.

Cumberworth CE (A) First School plan to use any donations received in Sheila’s memory towards creating a sensory garden in their playground. Sheila would have loved this and would be so proud to be helping to offer children a safe and nurturing space during their school day. She spent so much of her life doing the same.

Denby Dale Community Library plan to use any donations towards developing the children’s section of the library. Denby Dale Library was central to Sheona and Amy’s lives as mum took us there every Saturday – and she remained a keen supporter of the library now that it belongs to the Denby Dale community, taking her grandchildren there and encouraging their love of reading and their part in our local community.

We would like to do something positive during our time of sadness and would therefore be very grateful for any donations made to help us raise money for these two organisations. If you would like your donation to go to a specific organisation, please let us know in your comments.
