Story
WHAT I'M DOING
Cycling 350km across Vietnam & Cambodia in 5 days!
WHY I'M DOING IT
From the bottom of my heart I believe we CAN make a difference.
There are literally THOUSANDS of children living and working on the streets in Cambodia - most under the age of 10, too many completely alone.
Lotus Kids' Club is dedicated to supporting these abandoned children, many of them heartbreakingly already survivors of human trafficking and sexual exploitation.
WHAT WE CAN CHANGE
Access to basic education, basic healthcare, and a way out of such desperate poverty through vital community-building initiatives.
PLEASE HELP ME MAKE A DIFFERENCE.

6 years agoThey may have to choose just 1 child out of a family of 8 to support, but that child is receiving a fantastic education - basic curriculum plus english, arts and crafts, role play, music... it was lovely to see. They teach them about hygiene, nutrition, basic relationships, what type of contact is right and wrong in an adult... and so much more. ALL FOR JUST £190 PER CHILD, PER YEAR. So again, I thank you for your help, every penny has made a very real difference in the lives of those children

6 years agoBut they were probably the most beautiful people I've ever met - it sounds cheesy but everyday, in the middle of the insane poverty, we were just surrounded by happiness. The charity visit was tough to swallow, in terms of the reality of what they're working with and what they can, and simply can't, achieve. But it was also massively inspiring, it's a super organised operation looking at the welfare of the children from A-Z on the basis that quality is better than quantity.

6 years agoI'm sorry it's taken me so long to post this. My sincerest thanks from the bottom of my heart for all of your support. I don't know how to even begin to describe the experience - the cycling was INCREDIBLE, an amazing physical challenge that I highly recommend. Cambodia has somehow worked its way deep into my heart - every person we met had lived through such tragedy, children as young as 8 and 9 taking care of handfuls of tiny children and babies... the poverty I can't begin to describe...
