Story
Hi Everyone,
With everything going on London right now, you might have not heard about the flooding that has affected the south of Sri Lanka. For those of who are unaware there currently nearly 600,000 people displaced and the death toll has risen to 180 people. As the emergency services move out of the area and the families start making their way back to their houses, the next stage of rehabilitation kicks in.
The areas affected included one of the most underprivileged districts of Sri Lanka and are in desperate need for basic necessities to get back to their normal day-to-day life. Specially for the kids it’s important to give them a sense of normality and get them back to schools. My family back home in Sri Lanka are planning to get 600 school uniforms, shoes (flip flops, they don’t wear shoes in this part of Sri Lanka) to 300 girls and 300 boys. It will be distributed through one of the schools in the areas to kids between the ages of 8-14 years.
The whole project is going to cost around £1,500 and I have pledged to raise at least £500 but of course the more the better and the more kids we can help. Please contribute whatever you can, I know it will make a great difference them!
Many Thanks
Sid
