    Story

Ever since I was a small child, I drove my mother crazy kicking and throwing balls around in the kitchen and causing my father physical pain by 'accidentally' hitting balls at him. These aimless games were given a litte more direction when I turned 11 years old and was introduced to the game of cricket. That is when my 'healthy' obsession began. It still motivates me today, even though I have been living in Vienna, Austria, for the last couple of years where cricket is not as developed as it is back home in England. Cricket in Vienna is the reason why I am asking for your support.

I have two goals. Firstly, to give refugees (mainly Afghani and Pakistani) the opportunity to play the game they love and emulate their heroes from home and secondly, improve the facilities in the only cricket ground in Vienna.

Hundreds of refugees in and around Vienna dream of playing cricket again and my wish is to make theirs come true.

Afghanistan's story is the closest that cricket has come to a fairytale. Twenty years ago cricket hardly existed in war-torn Afghanistan, yet today, cricket is so popular in Afghanistan even the Taliban play it and gradually a way of life is being build through cricket.

In order to do that we need to work on the ground at Markomnnenstrasse, Vienna. The ground currently has two astro turf nets which both need rebuilding and relaying for safety purposes and to improve the quality of training sessions, allowing the players to get more out of them.

I will be taking part in The Ironman, Podersdorf, in September to help raise money. An Ironman Triathlon is a long-distance triathlon , consisting of a 2.4-mile (3.86km) swim, a 112-mile (180.25km) bicycle ride and a marathon 26.22-mile (42.20km) run, raced in that order.

I appreciate any kind of support you are able to give, however big or small, and will give my best in providing as many people as possible the opportunity of starting a second innings on the front foot.
