    Story

Since 2010 young people in Troon, Camborne have been asking for an improved skatepark at Treslothan Road, Troon. There have been sponsored litter-picks, bands playing gigs at Troon Church Hall and a calendar made with photos from a competition for the past four years. In July 2017 nine young people attended the monthly meeting of Troon Village Association asking for help to raise awareness of the state of the ramp at Treslothan Road and asked for help to organise a Ramp Raiser Fun evening.

The costs of putting on a Fun event are great. Extra public liability insurance for it is required, first aiders, musicians and their equipment, electricity and electricians need to be paid for and the idea is to raise money not to dip into the money already saved. Camborne Town Council have been asked for financial help but the July meeting of the council was missed by a whisker and their next meeting isn't until September.

A new ramp could cost i.r.o £8,000 and just over £3,000 is saved in the Team Troon account. If you could help with paying towards the cost of putting on the Ramp Raiser Fun event the young people of Troon would be very pleased! They're willing to demonstrate their skills on the equipment at Treslothan Road as it is, so even if you can't donate please come along and watch them on 16th August between 6.00 and 8.30pm.

I am Chair of Troon Village Association, Team Troon. When litter was a problem in Troon the sponsored litter picks began. Once some money was made it was decided that it should reward the young people. They said they wanted improvements to the park, so fund-raising continued.
