On 24th May 2019, Slimstock UK will be sending its top explorers on a dangerous quest around the Yorkshire Peaks. Focused on raising money and awareness for The Garden Suite - Alexandra Hospital, the adventurers are willing to do whatever it takes to complete their mission!

Jessie's Story

In August 2017, Jessie's Dad was diagnosed with Bile Duct Cancer also known as cholangiocarcinoma. After a 11-hour operation in September followed by a course of intensive chemotherapy, he was in remission and on the road to recovery. However, in January 2019, Jessie and her family were given the news that no one wants to hear; the cancer had returned. Her Dad is now undertaking another round of Chemotherapy at the Garden Suite, a specialist facility located at the Alexandra Hospital in Redditch.

Cancer of the bile duct is a rare cancer. It is also called cholangiocarcinoma. It develops when abnormal cells grow in an uncontrolled way. The bile ducts are small tubes that connect the liver and gallbladder to the small bowel. The bile ducts carry fluid called bile which helps break down fats in food.

The staff on the ward have been fantastic, not only the treatment that's available but also the on-going support from the hospital!
