Story
St. Mary's Church & Community Food Bank began as a 3 month project over the winter months of 2011.... Now we are open 4 times a week and have been for the past 7 years, a lifeline for many families and individuals in our local community who find themselves relying on a food bank. The need is particularly great during colder months and around Christmas. Each year, we try to give families that are referred to us by local agencies enough food to see them through the festive period, a christmas dinner with all the trimmings that they can cook at home and presents for every child that is referred to us. In 2016, we provided Christmas for 178 families. January and February are also months of high demand as many families have to choose to heat or eat. We are looking to raise money to ensure that the food bank is well stocked for these months and that we can offer families and individuals the support they need. All money raised will go directly to purchasing stocks of food. Donations of tinned and long life food are always very gratefully received, but a lot of people have asked how to make monetary donations - hence the crowd funder! Thank you for supporting your local community.
