Tom, Steve, Jon and I (Chris), are cycling from London to Paris to raise money for Snowdrop, a company who help children with brain injuries reach their potential. Snowdrop is a company I have personal experience with as they help my daughter iyla.
Caroline and I were looking forward to having our first child in late 2016. In the final stages of birth iyla was starved of oxygen and this resulted in the type brain damage known as cerebral palsy. Cerebral palsy impacts every single muscle in the body. This affects iyla's ability to move and affects everything from her arms and legs to her tongue and stomach muscles. This means simple things like eating, siting and holding objects are extremely difficult for iyla.
Through pure chance we were introduced to Snowdrop, a company who specialises in helping children with brain injuries and changing their lives for the better. Andrew and Janet have been so supportive as they know the emotional journey parents go through, having gone through it themselves with their son Daniel. The money raised will pay for children to receive treatment whose families cannot afford to pay. Snowdrop operates differently to other companies, if a child needs care they will provide it even if it can't be paid for.
Snowdrop has changed iyla's life. She's 18 months old and through the programme of exercises, she can now feel her arms and legs. She's reaching and grabbing objects and is even trying to wave and bring a spoon to her mouth. She's so much more interactive. Before life happened around iyla and she wasn't part of it, now she smiles at us and wants to play, she'll even try and say her name. This is all thanks to hard work with Andrew and Janet's guidance and support
We'd love to help as many children as possible, who need it so much, children who've had the hardest starts in life but with help could achieve so much
