Story
Hi, my name is Sonia Smith, I'm married with 2 wonderful boys but 7 years ago (When I was only 33 years old)I had a stroke, This changed mine and my family's life forever. I was told I a had a brain-stem stroke which is one of the severe ones, and my husband was told 'to be prepared for the worst' but after 6 months of being in hospital I am lucky to be a survivor ( I know there are many people who don't make it).I am left with many abnormalties,i have speech problems, I can no longer walk, swallowing issues, facial disfigurement, hearing loss, eyesight issues, spacial awareness, I'm constantly dizzy, tremors, unfortunately my list could go on. Its been a struggle the past few years my operations and procedures I have had, and without my close friends and family I don't know where I'd be today. Its very hard to be severely disabled everyday but please, please help me to raise £4500-00 for a electric/manual wheelchair which will help me with my mobility issues. e.g. I could actually go in my garden (instead of just looking out)when I want, maybe go to the shops by myself. I know what people might think 'why don't you go to the council' well its not that easy to tell you the truth, I pay my taxes through my pension, I pay for dental treatment, prescriptions,I'm not on benefits and being disabled has already cost me and my husband thousands (having things that has to suit my needs now) but now its come to the time, we need help, please, please donate to me for a wheelchair that will make my life easier, or maybe a raffle, or cake selling because I also need to reach out to people I don't even know, to get to my target of purchasing of a wheelchair. Please, please donate whatever you can, every bit helps.
