I have been fortunate enough to secure a place on a volunteering scheme in Fiji next year. It is a medical placement and will involve giving care to a community which does not have the fundamental support of a national health service like we do today. I will be based within a hospital working along side the local nurses and doctors to give basic care including giving vaccinations to young children and health education to the community to promote better lifestyles and wellbeing.
