Sophie has been selected to go to Canada in July 2017 to an international camp with Worcestershire Girl Guides. This is a huge honour and she went through a rigorous selection process to achieve this. The camp will give her the opportunity to meet Girl Guides from around the world and learn about different cultures and traditions. She is in Canada for two weeks - camp for one week and then a few days sightseeing in Vancouver.
Not only will this international trip be beneficial for Sophie, it will also allow her to share her experiences with other Guides and young women within the community. Sophie has been involved in Guiding since she was 5, starting as a Rainbow and progressing through to Senior Section. She has achieved her Baden Powell Challenge award and is working towards her Chief Guide Challenge. Guiding provides a place where girls can continue to learn, gain confidence, develop skills, and of course have fun along the way. Sophie has always embraced the Guiding ethos and is benefiting from this opportunity. She is also giving back to the Guiding community as she is a Young Leader.
In order for her to go on this trip of a lifetime Sophie has to raise £2500. She has been actively fundraising for the last few months but still has a way to go. As you can appreciate, raising this amount of money at the age of 14 is a daunting prospect and any support would be gratefully received.
