Story
In January this year my sister's daughter, Christine, died abruptly after 5 days with menengitis. She was a single mother and left behind beautiful 7 year old, Kyla, who is now an orphan. Kyla's next of kin would have been my sister, her grandmother, but she too died in 2009. I am now officially Kyla's next of kin. The challenge, however, is that Kyla is in Kenya and I am here in the UK with my family. Already some friends have already helped raise more than £2000 towards legal fees and airfare for me to travel to Kenya to be given the legal guardianship to Kyla by the court of family and children services. The next step is to raise £3000 to pay for Kyla's visa, UK legal fee and airfare for her to join me and have a new family. Your generous contributions will help Kyla to have a new home and hopefully a better future. Thanks.

7 years agoWe are getting there! Including other offers outside this crowd funding page, we have raised just over £2100 which is enough for both Kyla's visa and the legal fee. Another £1000 to go for my ticket and Kyla's to come. I want to really thank everyone that has been involved this far. What seemed like a monumental task now looks possible thanks to everyone's generosity. I shall be closing this great effort on Monday 3rd of December. Best regards to all.

7 years agoFantastic news!! We now have all the £1460 towards the visa and are only left with the £600 legal feel and the two air tickets when I eventually go for Kyla! A big thank you to all for your prayers and generosity!

This site will be up for only 60 days until the end of November as we would like to apply for the visa asap for Kyla to be home with us for Christmas. Thanks
