Story
On the 1st July last year whilst doing what he loved best (playing table tennis ) David a fit and healthy 46 year old suffered a massive stroke resulting in the loss of two thirds of the left hand side of his brain. The following day he fell into a coma and underwent a hemicraneiectomy to remove part of his skull. The prognosis was that if David survived at all he would be in a permanent vegetative state. David being the determined and stubborn man that he is has defied medical science and is very much still with us. Eight months on David is home and making great progress. Almost every area of Davids brain has been effected, however the grace and patience which he's accepted the hand that fate has dealt him is astounding.David has severe expressive asphasia and is learning to talk again and amongst other things the stroke has left him paralysed on his right hand side. David is working extremely hard to regain the use of his limbs but his greatest wish is to be able to return to play table tennis. David needs a special sports wheelchair to be made for him as the hand he needs to self propel his chair is also the hand he needs to hold his table tennis bat with. His friends and family would love to be able to help him fulfill his dreams.
