    Story

Robin Hood, as legend says, married Maid Marion here and gave generously to others.

We at St Mary’s, encourage everyone to live generously too. We have an urgent need for generosity towards our Restoration Fund as we need to raise in excess of £10,000 but we recognise that giving to others with time and skills is equally valuable and important. A few ideas are, phone someone to chat & cheer-up , buy & give some flowers/fruit, send a card, letter or email, buy something extra and donate to a food bank and say hello & smile to everyone you see .

HOWEVER....if you can we need your financial support so:

Support our Sponsored Walk. Brian Hawkins & Michael Dickinson are walking 50 miles of the Robin Hood Way, starting on the 6th December.

Day 1. It may be a wet, cold day but Brian and Michael enthusiastically set off today with 2 other friends, Paul & Susan Sanders on the first leg of the walk 15 miles to Creswell Crags with smiles all round. We are so grateful for their support and generosity of their time.

Day 2. 9th December. Brian and Michael start their walk again from Creswell Crags. Another 15 miles. The weather is forecast to be a bit kinder than today. Good luck lads you are doing a sterling job.

Day 3. 17th December. Circular route from The Clumber Park Hotel. Hoping the weather is a little kinder for the 2 dynamic walkers.

Day 4. Last lap finished and at least the sun shone today but not enough to dry up the mud. Never mind!!

The dynamic duo and friends have achieved a marvellous fete and St. Mary's church is very grateful to them. With other money given, we now have £2,000 of the £10,000 needed. Thank you to everyone who has contributed in anyway.

Brian and Michael have now decided to walk the whole 105 miles (50 already completed) of the Robin Hood Way in the New Year.
