Story
I am the registered manager for a residential dementia home. I have worked at Woodlands since being 15. I have personal experience of living with dementia as my nan and grandad were both affected - relying on health and social care that wasn't the best. I have a strong passion for ensuring our residents live life to the best quality they can. This involves giving our residents a purpose and remaining to integrate in the community. We struggle to take our residents out at times due to a limit of transport. Our residents often live in the moment and planned outings don't always go to plan therefore we would like to raise funds for a wheelchair assisted mini bus - this will give us flexibility to take our residents to appointments instead of relying on ambulance transport that often has our residents waiting for hours and becoming distressed. It will give our residents and team freedom to go out as and when the moment suits. I would appreciate as much as possible and thank you all for your support.
