As most of you know, it will be 5 year this July that I lost my only brother Mathew to the dreadful word we all hate to hear 'cancer'. For those who don't know the story I'll tell you a little bit of information and why I'm trying to raise the money.
At the age of just 18, Mathew got the news that shattered all of our life's. He had a very rare cancer called Ewings Sarcoma, which is a bone cancer that pretty much destroyed his shoulder blade. After numerous chemotherapy and radiotherapy sessions, hospital visits, and most of all worry, we got the best news ever!! He beat it!! 2 year my brother fought the horrible disease, things started to look better, he had a future!!
But how wrong was we! After another scan we got the results, cancer was back, only this time it was on his lungs! And not even 2 week later, our precious 20 year old boy was taken. Right before his 21st birthday. How life could of been so cruel so take away someone as perfect as my Mathew I will never know!
But Mathew wouldn't of fought the way he did without the support from his family and most of all the nurses who worked and helped him at St James Hospital in Leeds. Ward 94, teenage cancer trust, the ladies there were something else! How they do their job I will never know! They helped my brother see a way through, and took his mind off what he was going through. He always was a joker and the joy the nurses bring into that ward, they knew exactly how to make him feel better even when he was at his worst.
So I'm wanting to raise the money to take up to ward 94 on Mathews memorial on the 17th July this year. They have a games room up there so the patients can feel at home, playing on a PlayStation or just chilling out listening to music. I want to be able to give something back to them, to help them to buy new things for the teenagers going through this horrible illness!
