Story
I have known Stacie since the age of 3. A kind, shy, reserved character who always has a smile! She is now 35, married to Kenny, (17 years together) with two adorable young girls, Chloe & Sophie. Both girls are just like their mum; kind, helpful and caring. Please help her get the treatment she needs! Get her more time with her girls and Kenny. Thank you xx
This is Stacie's story, in her words...
I suffered in high school with headaches and was always told it was stress by doctors. In January 2015, I had a seizure which caused loss of feeling in my left side. I went via ambulance to York District Hospital, where a scan showed a 5x4cm brain tumour. Originally I was told it was a low grade/benign tumour. So I had surgery on March 31st 2015 to remove it. It went well; however, they couldn't remove all of it due to it being too deep in my brain and removing it could have paralysed me.
The tumour turned out to be stage 3 cancerous known as an Aplastic Astrocytoma. I was told my prognosis roughly 5-7 years.
I had 33 daily sessions of radiotherapy, alongside 44 days of oral chemotherapy (Temolozide). I was told I could no longer drive due to the risk of more seizures. That was that - my independence gone. I couldn't take my girls to school and had to rely on others. Which I have never needed to do.
The tumour remained stable. Until January 2017. I got a phone call whilst away on holiday asking me to go see my Oncologist. A week later I was told my December scan showed growth and it had progressed. The next step was to have 3 cycles (over 3 months) of oral chemo..... another scan showed more growth. Surgery was no longer a viable option as a second tumour had appeared over 6 weeks. This is now slowly paralysing my left side. In September 2017 I was told I needed to have PCV chemo and that if it didn't work I'd have approximately 8 weeks to live. I have just finished my first cycle and find out scan results on Monday 30th October. Now I am struggling with memory loss, numbness down my left side, headaches that make me violently ill, fatigue, lack of balance, out of breath and I need a wheelchair.
Avastin is a chemotherapy that isn't available to me without paying for it. Each fortnight it can cost £1500 - but has known to have a better impact than other chemotherapy. I simply do not have enough to fund it.

7 years agoThank you every single one of you! I know this time of year money is tight - so every penny is greatly appreciated. We need to aim for approx £15,000 now, to cover fees on here and Stacie’s 6 session of Avastin! Stacie is feeling okay considering. She has headache and slight back ache. Her balance isn’t great, but she’s so determined. She’s a warrior! Following the 6 lots of chemo, if it’s working and keeping the tumour stable, we will keep going!
