S-FACTOR’S ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT PROGRAMME

Here at S-Factor Academy, we believe athletics should be used holistically not just for its obvious physical rewards. It's wider benefits include improving athletes' focus, teaching discipline and time management as well as developing wider social skills and learning to balance sport with core education. Remaining engaged with our alumni who suspend their training for educational purposes is important to us as they serve as positive role models to our younger athletes. Most of our alumni continue to volunteer for the club intermittently (with one of them even returning as a full time coach!). Now in her third year, Abimbola is planning to study Political Science in Lyon, France at Lumière University Lyon 2. This unique opportunity not only encourages personal growth but allows her to gain a wealth of academic development for her final year and beyond. She hopes to apply this experience in her pursuit of a career in international commercial law. As an undergrad, studying beyond the confines of an English classroom provides the opportunity to experience diverse learning and teaching experiences, opening perspectives and improving academic attainment. As well as gaining insight within a multicultural and international environment.'

Abimbola is a true role model, one of our stand-out former athletes, representing us at County level in sprints and long jump. She has remained actively engaged with the club - volunteering in various roles, including reception and team manager, as well as volunteering for outreach and summer programmes, giving back for the benefit of our younger athletes and showing that you can excel at athletics as well as in education. We are proud of her - and are pleased to announce that the Programme will contribute a minimum of £500 towards the cost of her overseas module – BUT WE ARE HOPING TO RAISE MORE - thereby leaving her to focus 100% on her studies when she heads to Lyon in October 2018.

We are appealing for your support as she embarks on this next stage of her education – PLEASE HELP US RAISE OUR £5,000 TARGET FOR ABIMBOLA which is the amount it will cost for her year in Lyon. Any surplus raised will fund the wider Programme so that we can continue to encourage more of our young athletes to work hard, focus on their goals and strive for academic excellence!
