Weʼve raised £87,709 to help raise funds for my Nephews 2nd bone marrow transplant

    Frome, United Kingdom
Funded on Tuesday, 20th September 2016

Don't have time to donate right now?

    Story

Daryl is 13 years old from Somerset and lives with his Mum, Dad, 2 Sisters and his Brother.

On the 6th April 2015 Daryl was Diagnosed with Leukaemia - Atypical CML Monomonasomie 7 and GATA 2. Daryl is possibly the only child in the UK to have this very rare condition.

On the 3rd July 2015 Daryl received a Bone Marrow Transplant with Bone Marrow from his older brother, Brad. Daryl did really well with this procedure and this was a really positive step for him.

Unfortunately on the 15th April 2016 Daryl was told he had relapsed and would need further treatment.

As this would be Daryl's 2nd round of treatment we had to apply for NHS funding, this has taken a lot of time and we have now been told at the end of this long wait he is not eligible for anymore NHS funding.

We have decided to raise money for the treatment for Daryl ourselves. We have been told to go private the cost is between £80 - £100K so we need to start this immediately as Daryl is becoming weaker each day.

If you feel you would like to donate to help Daryl fund further treatment we would really appreciate anything you can give!

An appeal has been made but we don't have the time to wait to see if the decision is changed, we need to start this now.

We would like to thank everyone who has given donations and helped Daryl have the chance of having his second bone marrow transplant. Daryl has had this now and after nearly 11 weeks in hospital he is now back home with all of his family. His body so far has accepted the transplant and so far he is doing well with just a couple of problems on the way - he does have a long way to go with this treatment but without everyones help he would not be where he is now, so it is only left to say again, THANK YOU all so much from Daryl and Family xxx.

We would like to update everyone on Daryl's progress as of today. We have had amazing news today, last time Daryl had the treatment, it took ten months to get to this stage, but as of today, Daryl is what the Consultant would say, a 100% his brother (Brad), this is because the bone marrow that was given to Daryl from Brad, has grafted into Daryl, and this is where we are now. Daryl has been allowed outside a couple of times this week, and been able to get some fresh air. We still have a long way to go, but this is amazing news, THANK YOU ALL x

Well everyone, the day has come that Daryl goes into the hospital for his 2nd treatment. Without all of your help and the outside fund raisers this would not have been possible, we as a family would like to say a massive Thank You to each and everyone of you,
