    Story

So what a whirlwind it has been over the past 4 years. It all started in 2012, when my son Brandon's daddy sadly passed away. It was sudden, out of the blue and devastatingly tragic. How has this happened?? Why?? It's not fair!! All these crazy thoughts and unexplained questions, that we all wanted answering so badly. It is painful to loose a loved one, but to loose someone who is young, fit & healthy, for what felt like no apparent reason? It's agonising.

Jason had died, age 26, on 21st November 2012. Unknown cause of death, they gave it the name 'Sudden Death Syndrome'.

So this is where it began, Jason's brother Sam had gone to hospital for testing. It was then they found that Sam had a heart condition called Pro-longed QT syndrome. Prolonged QT is a hereditary condition, so doctors had called Brandon in for testing. If Brandon tested Positive, this would confirm that Jason had Pro-longed QT, and would have been the cause of his death. Feeling a sense of enlightenment, but also struck with absolute fear.

Last July, I got the result, Brandon was Positive.

So what is Pro-longed QT? Pro-longed QT is an imbalance in the chemicals that create the electric impulses in your heart. Symptoms can be seizures or blackouts, due to the heart not being able to pump blood properly and the brain is starved of oxygen. Episodes can be caused from, stress, a sudden shock or strenuous exercise, however there isn't always a trigger. If the hearts abnormal rhythm persists, it may need electrically treating, without, they would suffer a cardiac arrest.

Brandon attends Maypole Primary School, unfortunately they do not have a Defibrillator on site, with the help of you, It is my aim to raise enough money to purchase a Defibrillator for the school, for the interest of not only my son but for the safety of all pupils and staff.

Thank you so much for taking the time to read my story, and I am eternally grateful for all your kind donations made. You really are a life saver!!

My son had SVTs and Wolf Parkinson White syndrome but thankfully his school did have a defibrillator. He had an ablation last year and thank God so far no more episodes. Hope you reach your target.
