Blind Since Birth
Some weeks ago I took Steve for a demonstration of the Orcam MyEye at the RNIB in Liverpool. From the start it was clear that this clever assistive device would give Steve a level of independence that could greatly enrich his quality of life.
The Orcam MyEye will not give him sight but it's OCR and facial recognition technology will enable him to do things that sighted people take for granted such as being able to read his mail or a newspaper or a book or a menu in a restaurant without any assistance. The device will also recognise products, and faces as they come into view.
Like all new technology the Orcam MyEye is expensive and we need to raise £2500.00 to purchase it.
In conjunction with our fundraising at facebook.com/spectacularfest we have now reached our target. On behalf of Steve we thank you all for your support.
