Story
Each year a group of people from Eyam think up a challenge to raise money for a charity that’s close to one of our hearts. Last year, we walked the Limestone Way for Western Park Hospital in Sheffield and this year’s challenge is to cycle the equivalent of Land’s End to John O’Groats in 24 hours! That’s a total distance of 874 miles or 1407 KM.
To make the challenge achievable, it will be a static bike challenge with two teams continuously cycling for 24 hours. The two teams are of mixed gender and ability so keeping up an average speed of in excess of 18 MPH in order to complete the challenge is going to be tough.
The chosen charity this year is Valley CIDs , an independent charity based in Derbyshire committed to serving children, young people and families through outreach work in schools and the wider community.
The challenge will take place on Saturday 26th and Sunday 27th of August, 2017, in the village square in Eyam and any donations, big or small, would be very much appreciated.
More details on the challenge can be found here - https://www.valleycids.co.uk/appeal/eyam-challenge-2017
Many thanks,
Steve
