The school staff have put together a team of 10 - including teachers, teaching assistants, network management and even the Head! to complete the North West Tough Mudder Event in September. We felt this was an appropriate challenge which requires training, determination, teamwork, effort, enthusiasm and courage; all things that our pupils display on a daily basis in order to overcome their special educational needs and learning difficulties and disabilities. Our aim is to raise as much as possible to continue to offer and support our young people to meet their challenges and aim high in their aspirations for the future. we want to provide opportunities to allow our young people to access the same things as their mainstream peers both in and out of school. Leisure pursuits, holiday clubs, and residential experiences, work and career experiences which allows them to generalise their learning and skills whilst broadening their horizons within the community both locally and further afield. Our students represent some of the most vulnerable people in our society and with that little extra effort they can do amazing things. We have examples of that already, overcoming physical difficulty, learning difficulty, mental Health and emotional difficulty and difficulties with their communication. We want them to be able to make choices and become independent young people who can make a very positive contribution to the world in which we all live. As a school we remain committed and determined to lead the way in ensuring our students leave us equipped with the 'tools' they need in their future lives.
