Story
Each year the Mayor of Stockport selects a chosen charity or charities to raise money for, this year Councillor Chris Gordon has selected Samaritans of Stockport and St Ann's Hospice.
On Saturday 25th March a group of local residents and councillors will be abseiling down Stopford House in the town centre, all to raise money for these fantastic causes!
David Meller, Daniel Oliver and Councillor Kate Butler will be amongst those participating in the abseil and they would be incredibly grateful for any money that you are able to donate. Below are the details of the charities that you will be helping.
St Ann's Hospice is an organisation that supports those who are affected by cancer or other life-limiting illnesses. Their staff and volunteers provide a vital lifeline for those who are in desperate need of support, including the family members of those diagnosed with such illnesses. You can find more details at this link: http://www.sah.org.uk/about.
Samaritans in Stockport is a local group that provides emotional support to those in our borough and in surrounding areas. Mental health is a high-profile issue in our society and the Samaritans allow residents to contact them by telephone, email, text or in person to discuss their concerns. You can find out more here: http://www.samaritans.org/branches/samaritans-stockport.
This is no mean feat so please be generous, thank you in advance for your donation.
