Shropshire Community Health NHS Trust values the nurses it employs as highly skilled, knowledgeable professionals. Recently the Chief Executive and the Chair made a brave decision to refuse a financial donation because they were uncomfortable with the way in which the funds had been raised. The donors had used bizarre, parody images of nurses that were considered to be overly-sexualised, demeaning, and insulting to the profession. The decision has been both welcomed and criticised. Many nurses are pleased to see senior leaders speaking out against this kind of lazy stereotyping and everyday sexism and have voiced their support on social media. If you support the Trust's decision and would like to do something more to thank them, the aim of this JustGiving page is to try to replace the funds the Trust felt it couldn't accept. It is rare to see such a strong position being taken to counter the casual denigration of the profession, and especially in these particular circumstances. Let's replace those funds for this Trust.
