- Funded on Thursday, 18th January 2018

Story
Approximately £20,000 is needed to get this in front of the courts. We are confident that with your donations we will stop this through the courts. Please donate as much as possible. £40 from each of the 4000 objectors would get us so close to realising this target.
Arc21 and the unelected, unaccountable Department Officials have somehow overturned the decision of a democratically elected representative and given the go ahead to the Hightown Waste Incinerator that will destroy, pollute and detrimentally impact on the community and environment of the Newtownabbey and North Belfast Area for the next 30 years and beyond.
Despite the Environment Minister's decision to reject the planning application for the Hightown Waste Incinerator in 2015 and the written objections of 4000 people, the Department for Infrastructure officials have overruled this decision and granted planning permission for this monstrosity in September 2017.
NoArc21 have fought a long 4 year campaign to date to stop this incinerator happening. Our next step is to bring this to the courts to prevent this from proceeding. We have taken advice and we know we can stop it on issues such as visual, need, noise, odour, traffic, health and pollution impact.
NoArc21 now require the help of legal professionals and a barrister to bring this to the courts. We may also look to employ professional advice services to ensure we have a correctly focused campaign. This is where we need your help financially.
Your support to date allowed us to employ visual impact assessors which was submitted as part of the PAC appeal.
We appreciate that our financial aim is extremely high but this is what we know we need.
The Arc21/ Becon Incinerator will have a detrimental impact on a huge community across the Newtownabbey and North Belfast area so any donations large or small will help us.
NoArc21 are entirely made up of volunteers from the local community and have fought an ongoing battle since the initial announcement of the Arc21/Becon incinerator project in March 2013. NoArc21 are prepared to fight and oppose Arc21/Becon plans until the plans are dead.
If NOARC21 are unable to reach the target, all funds will remain in the No-Arc21 fighting fund. This will go towards things such as legal costs, marketing and expert reports. If any funds are remaining at the conclusion of the campaign, we will endeavour to return these to donors. If we are unable to identify the donor, any funds remaining will be donated to local charities:
NOARC21 will therefore need to identify how much was brought into the fund and how much of it we have spent before working out exactly how much each person is due in proportion to how much they donated and how much remains.

I like my lungs, I'd like to keep them. Incineration to 'save the environment' is the emperor's new clothes. Hoping the judicial review will likewise expose this grubby approval and overturn it.
