Weʼve raised £6,350 to help fund my amazing sister to get mobile after being bedridden by cancer.

Funded on Wednesday, 2nd October 2019

    Story

In January my sister, Liz, was devastingly diagnosed with an aggressive form of cancer. Scans revealed that it had spread to her bones and had begun to destroy her hip bone. She can no longer weight bear and has been bedridden since February. Cancer is a despicable disease that doesn't discriminate against age, lifestyle or wealth, and has a profound effect on everyone involved. Liz and her husband Jerome have two young boys they adopted 4 years ago. Everyday routines are now a struggle. Liz requires around the clock care and Jerome works full-time to provide for his family.

Liz desperately wants to become mobile again and this is my fundraising goal. I want to raise enough to help her have a hip replacement or to contribute to a mobility vehicle, anything that will give her a better quality of life.

On Friday 26th July, I will be cycling 40 miles from Bishop's Stortford to The Thames in East London, along the tow paths of the River Stort and the River Lea. And back! I would love some company and it would be amazing if anyone else wants to join me for a gentle 4-5 hour cycle to London along the river! Please come along and raise money for your own good cause. The plan is to meet under Station Road bridge at 6:30am on 26th July, but please check here for updates.

As a family, we would appreciate any donations, large or small. Every penny will make a huge difference to Liz's life.

Hi Everyone, We would just like to say a huge thank you to everyone for your extremely generous donations. It has been a difficult few months for Liz but she remains positive and determined. Liz has had a hip replacement and with physiotherapy has started to take some steps, small ones at first but more as her strength increases. Your amazingly kind support has helped fund an electric wheelchair, an adapted armchair, a mobility vehicle and treats for her two young children. You have made a massive difference. Thank you, from all of us x
