Weʼre raising £1,000 to Pay for a water filtration system and children's school clothes.
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered charity.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Whilst visiting Nepal this year Vicki and myself met up with 2 fantastic people whilst we were doing voluntary work at The Peace Garden School in the Kathmandu Valley. Bikash and Jyoti were raised in the Kokhana leprosy colony by their leprosy affected parents. Vicki and I were invited to visit the colony. There are around 200 people living in the colony which survives on donations and very little input from the government. Jyoti is nearing the end of her studies to become a Radiographer in Nepal and Bikashi is training to become a tourist guide. Alongside Bikash’s training he runs a school for children of leprosy affected parents and teaches up to 65 children in a tin shed near the colony. He is currently building a house which will have room for the children to be taught in a safer and more school like environment.
Vicki and I are wanting to raise money to support Bikash’s teaching by raising money to purchase a water filtration system to provide the children and the colony with cleaner water. The cost of the filtration system is around £600. Any extra money will be used to buy school clothes, shoes and bags for the children when they attend school.
We will be running the Sheffield 10 km on the 23rd September to help raise money for this great cause. Please give generously it can and will help change peoples lives.
