I have had the chance to visit the pet refuge a few times. Its a great local organisation that rescues exotic animals that have either been abandoned or their owners are unable to care for them anymore. These animals have been raised in captivity and can no longer be released into the wild, nor easily be re-homed due to their special requirements. The refuge is a charity and not a zoo which means the park is only open for a few fundraising days a year. £120 will sponsor an animal at the refuge for 5 years. I am planing on visiting the centre again on the next open day on the 17th of September and will choose an animal to sponsor. Any extra money will go to the upkeep of the centre and enrichment toys for the animals. You can keep up to date with my running progress on my facebook page @stuart92hill.
