"As a filmmaker I believe in the importance of storytelling and giving a voice to those who are oppressed."

Susie is a freelance Producer/Director with a special interest in the Middle East, making charity films in Jordan, Palestine and Lebanon.

Having spent time with a group of Syrian women seeking refuge in neighbouring Lebanon, she was struck by their incredible resilience, hope and strength to carry on each day despite not knowing whether they will ever return home.

She used JustGiving Crowdfunding, raising £5,765 to help fund her film project.

"Sometimes we have to be brave and ask for help, this is one of those times."

Meet Sophie. Since the age of 23, Sophie has had and beaten endometrial ovarian cancer, twice.

She's had a difficult journey, having been misdiagnosed and refused operations to find out how to cure her condition. Sophie is desperate to be a mum, and is aware her only option left now is to freeze her eggs.

When she decided to set up a Crowdfunding Page, she never expected people to be so incredibly supportive and generous. With their help, Sophie was able to raise £4,080, and has been given the opportunity to create another life.

"He's the happiest dog we know, so full of life and love."

Dexter was rescued by his owner, Julia in Hanoi Vietnam, 5 years ago.

When Dexter went from happily eating his dinner, to suddenly being unable to walk, he was taken to the vet, who sent him home with pain killers. Five hours later, he needed urgent surgery on his spine.

Because of the kindness, support and generosity of those who donated, Julia raised £2,180, meaning Dexter was able to have the life-saving operation he needed.

"She may be tiny, but I am in awe of this little girl. I would like to give something back to someone so brave and so selfless."

Jon's friend's little girl, Lauren, woke up three years ago temporarily unable to walk. She was later diagnosed with JIA - a childhood autoimmune disease which causes inflammation of the joints and eyes.

In the last few years, she's been extremely brave, undergoing three procedures, weekly injections, fortnightly blood tests and countless different pills, medicines and eye drops. Despite this, she never complains and never stops smiling.

Jon decided he wanted to do something to make her feel special, raising £1,130 to send Lauren to Disneyland Paris.

"When I get older I'd like to work helping homeless people."

When Isabel went to see a show in London, she saw first hand just how many people are sleeping rough in the city.

Isabel knew she had to do something to help, so she decided to have a drastic hair cut, donating it to the Little Princess Trust and raising £1,275 for the homeless in Medway.
