Story
In September 2016, we found out we were unexpectedly pregnant with Twins :-) We had an early private scan at 8 weeks and all appeared fine however at the 12 week scan at the Royal Victoria Infirmary (RVI) in Newcastle we found out we had medical complications with one of the babies and so we were put under the wonderful care of the RVI Fetal Medicine Unit Team. Over the coming weeks and months we underwent intensive tests and multiple scans, but unfortunately on the 29th December 2016 our poorly twin Joshua died. Our remaining little boy Dexter fought on and he was born on the 26th May 2017. Both babies were delivered that day and we were able to meet and say our goodbyes to baby Joshua thanks to the the RVI FMU team.
We cannot express enough gratitude for all the wonderful support and care we have been given through this emotional journey by the Fetal Medicine Team at the RVI. All the staff have helped us through this extremely difficult journey and very emotional time, so by us setting up this crowdfunding page (as they don't have a charity set up as yet, but is in process) we want to say 'Thank You' for all that you have done for us and continue to do for so many others. Everyone in the Fetal Medicine Unit including the bereavement team undertake such a vital role on a daily basis and with such compassion and care for their patients. We will forever be grateful for your support and most importanly in enabling Dexter to be delivered safely and healthy when so many little ones don't make it through pregnancy or are born with medical conditions, many life threatening.
Both myself and my husband Bob are going to be raising money over the next few months for the Fetal Medicine Unit - I'm taking part in a local fundraising event with the raffle money being donated to this wonderful cause and Bob is taking part in the Great North Run in September.
We really appreciate anything you can donate, every penny will count - the FMU truly deserve it - THANK YOU xx
