    Story

On 4th June 2022 Gemma and Jason were hit with the most devastating news any parent could ever receive, their 6 year old daughter and the youngest of their 3 children, Lottie, has an inoperable brain tumour. That same day, Lottie underwent urgent surgery at the John Radcliffe Hospital to drain the fluid that was creating pressure on her brain. After a few days recovering in hospital, the drain was safe to remove and Lottie was allowed to come home while they awaited the results of the biopsy. Unfortunately, Lottie only made it home for one day before the fluid began to build up again and she was rushed back into hospital for emergency surgery to fit a permanent shunt that will keep the fluid draining. At this time Gemma and Jason were told that the biopsy results were inconclusive due to not having enough of a sample so they will have to perform a 3rd operation to obtain another biopsy.

On 14th June, after enduring 3 brain surgeries and following a further CT scan, Gemma and Jason’s worlds came crashing down when they were informed by the surgeon that in those 10 days the tumour had grown so rapidly that their time left with Lottie is limited.

We have set up this page with an aim to raise funds for two reasons. Firstly, Lottie’s biggest wish has always been to go to Disneyland and we hope to make that happen for her. Secondly, the family are self-employed and run their own business, which means this will have a huge impact on them financially. We want to raise as much as possible so that they can spend all their time with their precious Lottie and focus on their family over what will be the most difficult few months of their lives without worrying about trying to find the money to pay their mortgage.

So please, if you are able to make a donation to help we will be so very grateful. Gemma and Jason are the most doting, generous parents and the most caring people you could wish to meet. They would be the first to help anyone else in need but now they need our help. Any donation would be hugely appreciated.

From the moment Lottie was born she has been the most vibrant, energetic and adventurous little girl. She is the bravest and most courageous girl we know and even after all she’s been through over the last few weeks she still has a smile on her face and is making us all laugh with her cheeky little character. She really is Super girl!

In between treatment, Lottie has been making the most of her time back at home, spending precious time with all her family and making lots of special memories. She has had many different activities arranged including a private cinema showing, a day visiting cute puppies at the guide dog breeding centre, a special evening spent in the woods with family and friends and most recently a visit from the Barbie camper van. We want to thank everyone for your continued support.

Sorry there hasn’t been an update in a while, here’s a quick breakdown of how things are going… Lottie has now completed 4 rounds of chemo and is due to start the next this weekend. She has struggled at times with side effects, mainly sickness and low blood count but this has been kept under control for the most part. Scans show that the tumour growth has plateaued which is somewhat positive but not the shrinkage we had hoped for. The next steps are to continue with chemo and at the end of August, Lottie will go to London for radiotherapy.

Lottie started her first cycle of chemotherapy last week. This was administered over 3 days and Lottie handled it like the super girl she is. Her body has tolerated it well and she’s currently on a 10 day rest. She will have an MRI on Friday to see if the chemo has helped to slow the growth of the tumour. Thank you all again for your generosity, please keep on sharing.
