Story
Amelia is 2 years old and is enduring a long road of recovery from Meningococcal Septicaemia Meningitis.
She spent a number of weeks in Great Ormond Street where her Mummy stayed with her until she was deemed stable enough to transfer to a more local Hospital where she is continuing her recovery.
Amelia lives with her two Siblilings and loving parents in Welwyn Garden City and are under considerable financial strain due to the travel expenditure into London, petrol and parking to Stevenage for frequent visits and her Mummy's food and drinks at the hospital where she has remained with her Daughter.
Unfortunately her Daddy has no choice but to return to work after 3 weeks as he is self employed and therefore the only source of income. He is unable to support his Partner while Amelia undergoes surgery which is currently 3 times a week to assist the healing of wounds. She will have to have 4 fingers amputated as sadly they have died.
There is no way of knowing the long term effect this will have on Amelia so anything we can do to help will be greatly appreciated.
It would be wonderful if we could assist the Family with their day to day essential expenditure during this horrific time and raise additional funds for them to have some days out or a holiday as a family when Amelia is well enough.
This story will be covered in the Welwyn and Hatfield Times

7 years agoFinal update through this page as the family have requested I close the page. Amelia is doing really well, she has settled back in at home, loves her new bug girl bed and her ankle is healing nicely. There are still traces of the infection so the vacuum dressing is still needed as are the twice weekly visits to Addenbrookes. You can still obtain updates on Amelia through the Facebook page. Thank you from the Family for your support x

7 years agoA huge thank you to all that came to the fundraiser today. A total of £464.86 was raised and has been passed on to the Family. I had the honour of seeing Amelia whilst dropping off the money as she was allowed home this afternoon!! She still has a long journey ahead of her, twice weekly visits to Addenbrookes for vacuum dressing changes, the vacuum pump permanently attatched and the feeding tube until she starts eating properly again but the Doctor is confident that when the antibiotics course finishes in 6 weeks she should be infection free.
