As some of you may know Mark is waiting for a bone marrow transplant. It has been difficult getting a donor. No one has to die to be a donor and it is a painless procedure for the donor. It takes about 6 hours of a donors time to save a life.

I would urge all of you to become a donor. You may never be called but you could also save someone’s life! All you have to do is take a cheek swab or give blood.

The good news is that we have a potential donor in Germany and another in the USA so with even more luck and prayers Mark can have a transplant at the end of May or June.

I want to raise awareness of bone marrow donation and also raise some funds for the Heath hospital bone marrow unit (it is a centre of excellence for bone marrow transplants) as they are doing research into Mark’s type of cancer because typical Mark what he has is quite rare.

We will be holding a quiz night one night in May and already I have lots of raffle prizes.

I would be grateful if anyone could donate, even just £1 will all add up so the hospital can help others like Mark.
