In March, I will be travelling to Uganda in East Africa to volunteer teaching in primary and secondary schools with the organisation IVHQ. I am very grateful for this opportunity and have been selected to go with a group of other young people for one month. Our main focus is on sports education as this is an active way for children to learn core skills in their development. As well as sports, I will be preparing and leading classes for different subjects including English, Maths and Social Sciences. I will be living and working over there for a month with disadvantaged children, seeing the way they live their lives and how we can improve the education they receive. Uganda is one of the poorest countries in the world and where HIV/AIDS tears through the country. I will have the extraordinary opportunity to work with victims of this killer virus and educate the people of rural communities about methods of prevention and support available for victims of the virus. This incredible oppourtinity requires a lot of funding so I would be very grateful for any size donations that would contribute to my trip to Uganda and to help the people of the country during my time there. The money you donate will help fund the project I will be working for during my time in Uganda and will be used to purchase essential classroom resources such as pens, paper, books and sports equipment as these are all very limited in the schools there.
