"Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." - Nelson Mandela.

Many children grow up in poverty in India, facing many challenges on a daily basis. This poverty cycle often continues from generation to generation. However education has the power to break this cycle! You can be a part of helping to break this cycle.

We are raising money for a charity called "Saphara" which provides education for over 2,000 children. The money raised will go towards building classrooms, toilet blocks and science labs; paying for teachers' salaries, school uniforms, midday meals and giving university scholarships. This gives children the opportunity to break the poverty cycle and gives them hope for the future. This charity ensures that local people are empowered to make a difference in their own community, giving them ownership over their home and their future.

I will visit some of the schools which Saphara supports in April 2018 where I will spend time teaching in Indian schools along with my 9 other team members from Stranmillis University College and St Marys University College. We hope to encourage, inspire and learn from the teachers and children in India and have an opportunity to see the impact education can have on these childrens lives.
