Story
The annual Peel Dip, which takes place every New Year's Day in the Isle of Man, has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds since it was started by a woman with Multiple Sclerosis back in the early 1980s, and every year brave - some say foolish - dippers raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, Peel RNLI and one other charity (this year the chosen third charity is Rebecca House Children's Hospice).
As you probably know I have Multiple Sclerosis and have benefited from the money raised - so now it's my turn.
But I'm not doing it for nothing - if I raise £100 I will dip my toes into the Irish Sea. £250 I will go in up to my knees, £500 and I'll swim.
There will be photos.
If I can't raise £100 I'll just donate the money and turn up to help with the bucket collection - but I'm sure you'd rather I dipped at least a toe in the freezing Irish Sea. Please give what you can, and thank you.

5 years agoI did it - I got soaking wet and freezing cold on 1 January for three local causes. I definitely wouldn't have done it without the generosity of everyone who thought it would be funny to make me do this ... Thanks!

5 years agoI did it! And thanks to everyone who's sponsored me - well over £1,000 for the three Peel Dip charities - MS Society IOM, Peel RNLI (and no, I didn't need its services) and the IOM Children's Hospice, Rebecca House. (photo credit to one of the Main family - Lizzie is on the left looking less wet than me!)

5 years ago£960 raised (including £85 offline) - just £40 to go until I've raised twice my original target. I'm not going to get twice as wet, twice as cold or swim twice as far .... Thankfully the weather forecast is mild, no rain and no wind but I'm pretty sure the Irish Sea will be freezing. And did I mention that I'm still getting over the cold I've had since before Christmas? The things we (OK, I) do for charity. Suzy x

Peel, Isle of Man
I was diagnosed with relapsing/remitting Multiple Sclerosis in 2002. I like my fundraising feats to be effortless, but I have done a tandem skydive and abseilled down the Isle of Man TT Tower (twice) for the MS Society. But I've never done the Peel Dip - until now.
