    Story

It's common when you reach 60 to want to celebrate the occasion in style. Maybe a Mediterranean cruise with a loved one, a once in a lifetime trip to a far off country or a lavish meal with a select group of close friends.

But a 50km bike ride and 10km run to raise money for the Henry Surtees Foundation? It's certainly not the first thing that springs to most people's minds. I guess Andrew Swift isn't most people...

On the 23rd and 24th September 2017 Andrew, in association with the Swift Gallery in Stoke on Trent will be joined by like minded and able persons* to firstly, run 10km and then cycle 50km throughout North Staffordshire to raise money for the HSF. For the more leisurely there is a 5km walk on the morning of the 24th.
(*please see 'updates' below for a full list of participants)

The Henry Surtees Foundation was founded by motor sport legend John Surtees CBE, following the tragic death of his son Henry, killed aged just 18 years old whilst competing in Formula 2 race at Brands Hatch in 2009.

Their primary objectives are to assist people with brain or physical injuries caused by accident to return to community living by the provision of support for equipment and facilities. We also seek to provide education and training associated with motorsport-related programmes in technology, engineering, and road safety instruction for two and four wheels.

The HSF has always been a charity close to Andrew's heart. The Swift Gallery has over the past 5 years raised great sums to help the HSF and it is hoped that 2017 will be no different.
