Story
Our school have organised a volunteering trip to Kenya through a charity called African Adventures. I've been lucky to secure one of the places.
The trip is for 10 days.
‘In February 2018 I will be embarking on an African Adventures volunteer expedition to Kenya with Richmond Park Academy. I am aiming to fundraise £1800 to cover the cost of my trip. As a volunteer in Kenya I will be contributing to making a tangible difference at the school projects by helping with teaching at the local schools.
African Adventures gives people from all around the UK the chance to enjoy volunteering experiences in Ghana, Kenya and Zanzibar with their locally run and led partner projects. They provide humanitarian, financial and developmental support to 21 educational projects, helping to improve the lives of 20,000 young people through the provision of schooling and food. African Adventures shows absolute commitment to its partner projects and firmly believes that volunteering is a two-way street which greatly benefits not only the children in Africa but also the volunteers who travel with them.’
The total cost of the trip £1800, this is where I need your help and support. Whatever you can donate I shall forever be grateful for. Without additional financial support I would not be in a position to even dream about going on such an amazing adventure.
I have these last few months been involved in fundraising through different events at school, from selling homemade produce at school fare, candy cane gift service, bake sales. We are currently organising a film night at school and a school prom to raise additional funds. Above the £1800 per pupil, we collectively would like to raise additional funds to buy much needed educational resources for the children we will be supporting at a school in Kenya. Basic items we take for granted such books, pencils, pens are very much needed in order for these vulnerable children to access an education that's poorly funded in Kenya.
