Story
My heart has been heavy over the suffering especially of families and children from the devastating civil war that has engulfed Syria. While hundreds of thousands have made difficult migrations into and across Europe, many remain in refugee camps and other living situations in countries immediately surrounding Syria. My burden is to raise support for those who are seeking to provide help directly into these situations.
My experience as a worker on the ground in Zambia with small charity projects inclines me towards helping those working at that level. We have been in contact with one such, called Manara International, and all money raised through this will go directly to them particularly for their work with Syrian refugee children.
Projects include helping to house displaced Syrian families and provide them with food, medicine, blankets, heaters, and fuel. Please help us to help them. For example, a gift of £45 will take care of a family of 4-7 for a week. Other direct help projects support refugee mothers and new born children. Their work is difficult and sensitive, but if you are willing to respond to my walk by sending support then what you send will be channeled through their liaison channels with mission service groups that we are also connected with. This is done in a way that 100% of what you give will be passed on, so, for example, I am willing to cover the 5% that Just Giving will deduct from your donation using this page.

7 years agoI have really appreciated all of you who followed me on the 100km Thames Path challenge. I completed it in 4 days, walking around 6 hours a day with a short break. Much of it I enjoyed but at times I felt extremely weary and achy.....it was certainly a significant personal challenge, however as I kept focused on the cause, it kept me going. The event coincided with my Mum's death and funeral, however it was very timely in that Mum had requested that in lieu of flowers , donations would be sent to children in need.
