Story
Talent Is Timeless is for songwriters who are 50+. Too many times people are overlooked because of their age or they don't share their own talents because they think they've missed their chance. Well, we are here to prove the doubters wrong and that talent, is timeless!
We believe that songwriting skills only improve with time. Life experiences are richer, there are more stories both good and sad and if anything, songs can be more profound. We not only believe age shouldn't be a barrier to a career in songwriting, but that it should be seen as a bonus, and respected and valued, as experience and perspective.
We started this initiative because of the global lockdown and to build a creative community. And hey, we might even find the next Lennon & McCartney, Rodgers & Hammerstein, Ashford and Simpson via Zoom!
We wanted a way for people to stay connected, for younger people to help their seniors, and for people to make new friends. We call it creative collaboration.
A fun, friendly competition where thousands of people get to meet each other online, share and exchange original music, and feel supported by others with an objective in mind.
On a serious note, we hope it will also:
1) Start important conversations about age-ism in the global music industry, and indeed globally in all sectors
2) Give confidence and respect to songwriters over 50
We asked everyone we knew and loved in the music industry to get behind this and were blown away by the support from big brands like Caffe Nero and Abbey Road Studios, as well as musicians such as Tony Moore (Iron Maiden), Ian Matthews (Kasabian) and many more.
They all feel that talent is timeless, and should be recognised as such. We are all here to support people over 50 who want to write and share songs, whether you are just starting out and doing it for the joy of it, or if you want to make a serious career out of it.
The prizes are set up to help our winner and runners up take real steps forward in the industry, and our winning prize is a record deal, production at Abbey Road Studios, play listing in Caffe Nero, and much, much more (see Talent Is Timeless Website ).
We are fundraising because, while we personally have taken a leap of faith in funding everything, we trust that there is a natural give and take, and that if we create something valuable we will be able to rely on the generosity of people to make this viable. We would like to raise enough to cover the costs of this project and to raise more on top to support the charities that support us in the arts sector, namely: Help Musicians UK and PRS Foundation.
We have all been hit hard by the lockdowns and by the pandemic but here is an opportunity to support something that's tangibly supporting thousands of people and gives us excitement, entertainment and encouragement.
For businesses or anyone supporting us, as a thank you for donations exceeding £1000, we offer in return a free 2 hour songwriting workshop via Zoom with our founder, for your team (or family), or as a gift to your top client and their teams (or friends!). Creative workshops have been proven to drive productivity, team building, and contribute to a collaborative working atmosphere and are easy to deliver remotely to anywhere in the world.
For larger sponsors (£3000+) we are able to arrange some special media coverage. Please contact saskia@talentistimeless.com to discuss anything further. Please give now.
