    Story

Team 'GLIC' from Wallace Hall Academy in Dumfriesshire, recently won the Champions Award of the First Lego League at the 2018 UK and Ireland Final. We have received an invitation to take part in the World Championship in Detroit, Michigan on the 25th-28th April where we have the chance to compete against 70 countries from around the world.

The First Lego League is a world wide event with over 250,000 young people taking part each year.

This year the theme is 'Hydro Dynamics' and the team are required to design, build and program an autonomous LEGO robot to solve a series of missions.

We also have to undertake a research project based upon the theme of water and how we can improve our interaction with it.

The Team won our Scottish heat in Glasgow in December and were awarded a place at the UK finals in Bristol in February. Here we competed against the top 54 teams from around the UK and Ireland. We were delighted to be awarded with the overall Champions Award.

This means our adventure continues as we have earned a place at the World Robotics Championship in Detroit; USA!

There we will compete against the top 100 teams from around the World representing Scotland and the UK at a global level.

We have set up this page to help us raise the funds needed to attend this amazing opportunity. The event is in April and we have flights, hotels and entrance fees to pay for.

We are also accepting sponsorship opportunities from businesses and organisations both locally and across Scotland. If you would like to help sponsor our team please get in touch with Wallace Hall Academy at http://www.wallacehall.co.uk/contact-us.php

Any contributions would be very gratefully received to enable our team to continue our journey. Please also follow our school (@WallaceHallSch), department (@DTWHA) and Team (@GlicFLL) twitter pages for updates.

Many Thanks from Team 'GLIC' and Wallace Hall Academy.
