Hi all,
As many of you are already aware, our friend and former colleague Diana Drake was involved in a life changing accident 8 months ago resulting in doctors telling her she’d be unable to walk and would need to use a wheelchair for the rest of her life.
In the period following the accident Diana stayed in Lyndhurst rehabilitation centre in Toronto and during this time learned how to cope with life in a wheelchair. Thanks to the amazing care she received and her unbelievably optimistic outlook on life, Diana has made incredible progress. When she was told she’d never walk again her response to the doctors was ‘I’ll prove you wrong’ and this is exactly what she is doing. Diana has now regained the use of her right leg and despite her left leg being a little more stubborn it is slowly catching up.
To support Diana in her rehabilitation and to let her know we are all supporting her Clare, Harriet and myself are going to take part in the London Vitality 10k on 28th May. We will be running to raise money for Team ‘I Will’ (www.teamiwill.ca) Team ‘I will’ was been a huge support for Diana and her family immediately following her accident and continues to support her through her rehabilitation.
